David's Last Film
Florian Baumgartner is commissioned to write a feature article on his childhood friend, the well-known and controversial filmmaker David Mosbach. Rather reluctant, Florian sets off for Berlin - only to find out that David disappeared without trace days ago. When he views David's work for the first time in the course of his research, he is horrified: not only did Mosbach's films overstep the boundaries of good taste, but they were also bordering on sadistic. The police suspect the films of showing real murders and are investigating David.
For Florian, it is the beginning of an odyssey through the dark side of the capital, during which he is confronted with encounters and images that go way beyond anything he has ever imagined. All the while, the clock is ticking: he must decide which side he is on.
Richly atmospheric and brilliantly constructed, this thriller is about friendship and betrayal, the suggestive strength of images, and the power of illusion.
