Full Exposure
- She leaves her country in 1987 in search of greater freedom. But the man she is supposed to marry waits for her in vain. Instead, she lives in New York City as an illegal immigrant, getting by at first as a waitress. When she meets Jeff, she is reminded of her true ambition and talent. They put all their efforts into setting up an experimental theatre group in a derelict theatre in Greenwich Village.
Ten years pass in a flash, until one day another young woman arrives in New York, changing everything. Leah, a photographer, comes from West Germany, but now there is no longer any wall and there is no longer "another" part. The chemistry between Christiane and Leah is instant, overwhelming. But Christiane is guarded. The years of illegality and living together with a man have made her suspicious. She passes herself off as an American, calling herself Jo. Time and time again, she turns down Leah's advances. But her double life soon becomes too much to bear.
In the end, everything comes into the open, Christiane's secrets are revealed, and freedom becomes a reality at last. First she moves in with Leah, then returns to Germany. From now on she can finally be herself.
New York, two remarkable women - without men. A literary debut of extraordinary intensity.
