Red Wine, Red Danger

Martin Bongers, formerly a Frankfurt wine merchant and, for the last five years, a wine grower in Bordeaux, is in urgent need of money. So, when a French investor asks him to identify the best vineyards in Romania, the lucrative offer couldn't have come at a better time, and he jumps at the opportunity.

He has soon discovered a first class wine on the Black Sea coast, and sets off in search of the promising winery, but then things take a turn for the worse. Sofia, his contact in the local agricultural ministry is killed in a car accident, and her brother Lucien is convinced she was murdered because of her knowledge of the underhand wheelings and dealings of the former Securitate agents. And, as Bongers will discover to his great discomfort, the all-powerful Russian secret service has also been dipping its finger in the wine vat for years…
