The Reichskristallnacht

A series in 30 volumes, edited by Martin Broszat, Wolfgang Benz and Hermann Graml, in collaboration with the Munich Institute of Contemporary History.

Modern history commences with the post-Napoleonic  upheavals and conflicts, leading to the emergence of the modern German national, constitutional and industrial state. It extends to the end of the Social Democratic-Liberal coalition government (1982).

Progressing through to the present, these thirty compact volumes detail the major themes of German history in the 19th and 20th centuries. Their uniform structure permits the inclusion of various elements: narrative coverage of individual events and conflicts; overall presentation and interpretation; documentation from selected source texts; statistics; chronological tables; workshop information concerning the problems of sources; and leading questions and controversies in historical literature. Outstanding authors apply new methods in bringing the most important chapters in of German history to life.

"Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag has embarked on an ambitious undertaking: the publication of 30 volumes of modern German history - comparable perhaps to the paperback 'Nouvelle Histoire de la France', a work meeting scholarly demands at a price students can afford, and readable for a wider public." (FAZ)

This series is meant for professors, students and teachers of history, scholars of history and social sciences at universities and colleges, journalists, politicians and all readers interested in history.
