The Witch's Potion
Ten-year-old Jakob is getting desperate: his mother has fallen seriously ill and seems to be getting weaker by the day. So although he is terrified of her, Jakob goes to see the local herbalist - she is said to have saved the lives of many, but there are also rumours that she is a witch. Accompanied by the herbalists's daughter Marthe, Jakob sets out in search of the rare bloodroot that is needed to prepare the healing draught for his mother. But when they return, Marthe's mother has been denounced as a witch, and the children have to find a way to save her from execution.
