Valada's Sunken Gardens
Cordoba, 11th century AD: the great caliphate era is drawing to a close, but Cordoba still shines with imperial splendour. Princess Valada, daughter of Caliph Muhammad III, grows up in a time of power struggles, but also a time of unusually great freedom. Following the murder of her father, Valada finds herself with a vast legacy at her disposal. Dazzlingly beautiful and exceptionally intelligent, the young woman uses her inheritance to create a court of muses in which she surrounds herself with the most talented poets of her time. But as well as internal friction on personal and professional levels, the court has to face fierce external hostilities. Before long, Valada becomes enmeshed in a perilous power game...
