The Judge

Judith S is a woman of 46. She has striking red hair that she wears loose; she lives alone and has no children. Judith is a judge – an excellent judge, soon to be promoted, but that doesn’t bring her any closer to her colleagues. Her parents died several years ago. On Sundays, she visits her father's grave and takes furtive pictures of the house and garden beyond the cemetery wall – and the vibrant life of the family living there. She’s looking to create a new family album for herself. She has little experience of love; she hates the idea of losing control, yet she leads a double life, mostly at night...

Benno Hurt draws a remarkable portrait of a single woman of middle years – with all its attendant hopes, fears and shades of darkness.
