Coverbild Tennis von Dieter Hildebrandt, ISBN-978-3-423-34328-2

Sports conjure up images of perspiration, of aggression, of injury and pain. But somehow, tennis is a little different. With its neat little white uniforms, silent audiences and mandatory etiquette, tennis is, well, just a bit snobbier than most other sports. Yet although it has many traits characteristic of British culture and has perhaps enjoyed the most success in England, it is anything but typically English. The very name of the game comes from the French "tenez", to take, which players would say when asking their opponents to take the ball. In this enjoyable book, Dieter Hildebrandt looks at all the fascinating and little-known aspects of a widely misunderstood sport.
