Completely Out of the Blue?

Natural catastrophes and climate change: What we are up against, and how we can prepare ourselves

How great is the risk we face? Latest insights and advice from the "Master of Disaster" (Focus magazine)

It is no longer disputed that the world’s climate is undergoing progressive and major change. During the 1980s, there was an average of ten major catastrophes per year. This figure is now three times as high: storms, floods, tidal waves, and disasters related to storms and drought. What’s more, there’s hardly any region of the Earth that has been untouched by such events.

Over the past 30 years, geo-risk expert Gerhard Berz has travelled to areas at risk across the globe, conducting research in sites that have suffered acute devastation.

This book now allows readers to profit from the author’s many years’ experience of these kind of desasters, because those familiar with the causes and circumstances leading up to natural catastrophes are in a better position to take preventative action, and also know how to protect themselves more effectively.
