The Devil of Tempelhof (vol. IX)

Historical Novels, Thriller / Crime, Fiction

Inspector Leo Wechsler's 9th case

February 1929: A man is found murdered on the lush, green banks of Blanke Hölle lake. He is identified as Ferdinand Clasen, a doctor who lived in a nearby house known by locals as the Mysterious Mansion. When it comes to light that Dr Clasen was often very generous with his prescriptions – provided he was offered enough cash – Wechsler wonders whether this was the motive for his murder. But another lead takes Chief Inspector Wechsler to the Good Shepherd Monastery, which runs an institution for girls in the neighbouring Berlin district of Marienfelde. Clasen had been assisting a colleague there with medical care. And young Erika, who was supposed to be treated by him, has just disappeared from the Monastery’s care. Where is she now? Could she be the murderer?

  • Set against the sophisticated, glittering backdrop of 1920s Berlin
  • Highly atmospheric, excellently researched, and with a clever, tightly woven plot
  • For readers of Volker Kutscher and Anne Stern
