Ruth Weiss

Ruth Weiss, born in 1924, is the child of Jewish parents. In 1936, her family emigrated to South Africa, where Ruth Weiss worked for many years as an economic journalist. She is extremely familiar with many of the political leaders of the independence and liberation movements. Ruth Weiss worked as a journalist in England, Germany, and Zimbabwe, and in the 1990s she devoted herself exclusively to writing children’s and non-fiction books, as well as novels. The award-winning author lives now in Denmark. In 2022, she was awarded the PEN’s OVID Prize and in 2022 the National Order Companions of OR Tambo of the Republic of South Africa.
