At Grandfather’s Hand
Wrapped in love
All little Michael wants is to spend one night in the woods all on his own. Finally, his grandparents relent – after all, the boy is already four years old. But he only manages to hold out for a couple of hours and soon runs back home to grandad and grandma. The three of them live in poverty in the countryside, but their home is filled with so much love that young Michael doesn’t notice just how hard up they are.
With captivating tenderness the renowned poet and former publisher Michael Krüger’s tells the story of his early childhood in the East-German countryside and later in bombed-out Berlin.
