A woman fights for her heritage – and that of her Jewish family
Old stuff, a few mementos at best – that’s all Amira expects to find when she opens the door to her late grandfather’s storage room. Instead, she finds herself looking at her Jewish family’s art collection, believed lost since World War II. »WTF!« is Amira’s first thought, before she quickly posts an insta story. When doubts arise as to whether the collection’s route back into her grandfather’s possession was entirely legal, Amira is suddenly forced to defend her ownership and find a way through the chaos (Hebrew balagan) left in the wake of German-Jewish history.

Mirna Funk was born in 1981 in East Berlin. Having studied philosophy, she now works as a writer and freelance journalist for major German and Israeli publications. Her debut novel 'Winternähe' was awarded the Uwe Johnson Prize. She lives in Berlin and Tel Aviv.
