The Path. A Journey through the Sahara
Across the Sahara to the hermit's mountain with a Tuareg
Deep in the Algerian desert there is a house, rough, on a high plateau, it has a single room. A sanctuary, a retreat. The man who built it was happy there. He had been drawn ever deeper into the desert; until he was all alone. At night with the stars, and when he stepped out the door in the early hours of the morning, he looked into an infinite landscape of yellow mountains. This was the image that prompted Wolfgang Büscher's desire to go there. A travelogue about Charles de Foucauld, the man who built his house in the Hoggar Mountains.
