Scarred Girl

A moving novel about scars on the outside and inside – straightforward, honest and unadorned

Lara is 15 and has to spend the next four weeks in an inpatient clinic for young people with behavioural problems. That she is pretty crazy, as she herself admits, is evident from the fact that she smuggled razor blades into the clinic so that she could continue cutting herself. But group therapy is as annoying as it gets, and the psychologist doesn’t tell her anything worthwhile either. So Lara starts talking to Neo and Finn about her problems. And somehow, these teenagers succeed in changing Lara’s life.

  • An impressive debut on the topics of psychological health, friendship and healing
  • Unflinching, candid, and authentic: ‘Scarred Girl’ depicts harsh fates but also the hope for healing
  • Intense coming-of-age story about the inner struggle for self-worth and self-love
Genre: Contemporary YA, Family / Friends, Young Adult
