Gathering Mushrooms

Mushrooms have existed all over the world for more than 400 million years. There are over 100,000 species of mushroom, and over 2000 of them can be found in German forests. They are called lactarius, bolatus and tricholoma. Methods for finding them range from extensive commercial raids to tourist mushroom walks to private searches. Hans Helmut Hillrichs undertakes the latter with his dog, Pauline. Gathering mushrooms is more than just finding food; it also helps you find yourself. A person simply tossing mushrooms into a pan misses something essential, for eating mushrooms merely fills your stomach, while finding mushrooms makes you truly satisfied.
