Burgundy, Baguettes & Bicyclettes – My Tour de France
General Non-Fiction
La France, mon amour
With one foot in Munich, one in Provence, and both firmly planted on the pedals, roving reporter Jean-Marie Magro sets out to discover France by bike on a real-life Tour de France: from Paris to the Ch'tis; from the Pyrenees to Alpe d’Huez and Mont Ventoux; and from Mont Saint-Michel to the peaceful Basque Country via Cognac and Bordeaux.
How does a true Breton eat galettes and how do satirists spoof politics so skilfully? Why is going on strike almost a national sport and why has manga captured the hearts of young people in the land of Asterix and Obelix? Magro answers these and many more questions in his affectionate and lively book.
- France is a country of polar opposites and fascinating diversity
- A holiday read as entertaining as it is smart and surprising
- Exploring France by stealth, it's never been described like this before
