Two, Three Blue Eyes
A cathartic literary tale of an earth-shattering betrayal
Tassilo, young and in love with music and men, wants to get out of his prefabricated concrete apartment in Rostock and into the freedom of West Berlin. Swinging between despair and euphoria, he plans his escape – especially since he no longer feels safe at home. 'Mother says she will do everything to make sure that my plan never succeeds. Her declaration of war is crystal clear – not only as a mother, but also as a comrade.'
When this faltering, inquisitive young man with blue eyes arrives at Zoo Station in 1986, at the age of just nineteen, it feels like a miracle. Three years later, the wall comes down, and Tassilo makes a discovery that changes his whole life. Using letters, diary entries, childhood memories and Stasi files, Victor Schefé has created a novel that sparkles with energy.
