It is ancient Rome, in the time of Caesar: Marcus works in his father’s taverna, helped out by Gaul slave Argetorix, who is the same age as him.
The boys overhear a conversation between two gladiators – one of them seems to have a score to settle with the great Caesar himself! They have a sinister plan: to steal the great man's most precious treasure. Marcus and Argetorix are determined to stop them, but by the time they realize this treasure is in fact Caesar’s daughter, and that in turn she is none other than Julia, the sophisticated girl they’ve seen at their taverna, it is almost too late …
Frank Schwieger was born in 1968 and grew up in Holstein, in the northernmost region of Germany. He studied Latin and history, and has been working as a grammar school teacher since 1999.
