Everyone knows that great magicians go to the prestigious, traditional schools of magic. But where do magicians who are more … average … go? The ones with the not-so-impressive powers? For Niko, who can see (but not hear) into the past, and the others Omegas, the MGZ is ready and waiting! It may be a little run-down, but it’s here that they’ll learn to master their unconventional magic powers – in between dodging liquorice rain and tartan fried eggs. If they can work together, and keep their sense of humour, they might even outwit the snobs from the Merlineum in the end.

Rieke Patwardhan spent her childhood climbing trees to read all the books she could steal from her big sisters. Today she is a graduate psychologist living in Hamburg with her family, and writes stories for other children to read in trees.

Daniel Steudtner was born in Görlitz in 1979. Today he lives with his wife, son and dog in the Oberbergisches Land. As a child he gained early skills with pen and paint by embellishing his parents’ wallpaper. These days he has moved on to illustrating children’s and young adult books in his spare time.
