A Farewell Riesling
Fiction, Thriller / Crime
The peace of the sleepy wine town of Geisenheim has been shattered: Alexandra, a student at the local polytechnic, is found slumped in her flat, beaten to death with an Oscar replica. Suspicion falls on her boyfriend Manuel because the bottle of Riesling she’d been drinking shortly before she died is discovered in the flat he shares with some friends. The public are quick to label him the culprit, but Thomas Achenbach, his friend and flatmate, refuses to believe that sensitive Manuel could have committed a murder. With the help of lecturer Johanna Breitenbach, he embarks on his own investigation: he questions his fellow students, she enquires among the lecturers and both of them quiz the wine growers of the Rheingau region. Before long they discover that someone is sabotaging their detective work.
