The new Franconian Wine Queen was crowned only yesterday, but today the pageant’s proud winner is found dead in a Würzburg nightclub – killed by an overdose. The victim’s last movements and the cause of her death are a mystery to the investigating officers; was it an accident, suicide – or murder?

Meanwhile, Rio Duro vineyard owner Nicolas Hollmann’s holiday isn’t turning out quite as planned. Visiting relatives in Franconia with his family, he was hoping to learn more about the region’s white wine and its cultivation; but now he finds himself under pressure from all sides to investigate the case instead. As he does so, he unearths some long-standing animosities…
