Fish Suck!

How I went looking for my dog and found a home

11-year-old Till and his dog Flocke have been getting along well for a long time, even though Till’s drug-addicted father doesn’t do much shopping or cleaning. But when his father falls into a coma and is admitted to the hospital for who knows how long, Till must move into a children’s home. Unfortunately, no pets are allowed there. When Till wants to visit Flocke at the animal shelter, he learns that a family has adopted him. Till and his new friend Pawel concoct a plan to get Flocke back. But before they can, his new family goes on vacation to the North Sea. Without further ado, Till and Pawel follow them, leaving absolute chaos in their wake.

  • Despite “difficult” topics such as neglect and institutional care, the text has the lightness of a road novel and follows a wholesome friendship and animal story
  • Warm-hearted and profound, with a perfectly identifiable protagonist
  • For readers of Andreas Steinhöfel
