You are witchily welcome at the Lavender Bat, the five-star themed hotel in midst of the mysterious world of humans! A hotel by witches for witches that naturally has to remain a secret from humans. The only dumb thing is that 10-year-old Klara not only understands Witchspeak, but she is also immune to the witches’ "forgetfulness tea". Fortunately, human girl Klara and witch girl Rosalie quickly become the best of friends, because it takes the strengths of both of them to ensure that the hotel can open as planned and Rosalie’s true identity isn’t revealed at her human school. Along the way, the two of them are able to figure out the secret behind Klara’s ability to understand Witchspeak.

Ulrike Rylance was born in 1968 and studied English and German in Leipzig and London. She was an assistant teacher in Wales and Manchester, and also taught German to children and adults in London. In 2001 she moved to Seattle, USA, with her husband and two daughters.
Lisa Hänsch was born in 1988. She studied design and illustration in Münster and now lives in Brühl. As well as illustrating children‘s books, she works as a cartoon illustrator and animator.
